Making Organic Choices for Your Baby
As parents and caregivers, we have a responsibility to be informed and make rational decisions. In this day and age, all of us are exposed to multiple chemicals though what we eat, what we put on our skin and through the environment.
With that being said, our bodies are resilient. It is easy to give way to the modern paranoia and become obsessed with our surroundings. You can pursue a healthier and more natural lifestyle for your baby without stressing or punishing yourself for an unavoidable mix of organic and processed materials in your home.
What is most important is to be aware – as I always say “make decisions based from information, not fear”. Making organic choices is more than picking organic baby foods. Remember, the items that touch your baby’s skin can make a difference, so look for lotions and soaps that are as natural as possible. Be mindful of your environment and seek natural solutions for cleaning your home (lemons, vinegar, etc). Not only do they greatly reduce your overall chemical exposure, they work well and cost a fraction of the commercial cleaners.
If there are necessary items you cannot avoid that are not organic, use your own judgement. Less is best. Don’t let the pressure of making organic decisions take the joy out of motherhood. Love yourself and love your baby. Staying informed will empower you to make the right decisions for your family.
